three artists you’ve never heard of

I am back to share some of my favorite discoveries from the past month. Living in Nashville, it’s no surprise that two-thirds of my picks come from here. I hope you enjoy these selections as much as I did, appreciating their unique qualities and commitment to pushing the boundaries of genreless music.

meg elsier

Meg Elsier is a captivating indie alternative artist based in the vibrant city of Nashville, TN. Following the successful release of her debut album “spittake,” Meg has garnered attention from various prominent publications and has been actively performing at an increasing number of live shows. Presently, my top picks from her discography are “iznotreal” and “forlyleinsanfrancisco.”

She is truly a remarkable talent and holds a special place in my heart. Since coming across her debut single, “ishitfq,” last year, I’ve been fortunate enough to experience her live performance. Her warm and sunny disposition, coupled with her genuine character, creates an inviting and inclusive atmosphere for the audience.

mercury

Mercury is an indie rock band based in Nashville, TN. Centered around lead vocalist Madeline Kerr, the band is dedicated to crafting a unique sonic experience that pushes the boundaries of raw instrumentals and captivating vocals. Their music emanates a mesmerizing blend of electrifying guitar riffs and captivating vocal prowess, creating a harmonious equilibrium that is sure to enthrall listeners. The band has an exciting new album on the horizon, with promising new music to be released including three current singles that are out now.

chanpan

Chanpan, a dynamic trio hailing from NYC, features the talents of Grace Dundaw and twins Lance and Matthew Tran. Known for their inventive approach to music, they blend genres like indie, alternative, and electronic with a distinctive use of synths that creates a truly unique sound. The band first came to my attention earlier this year, thanks to a friend’s enthusiastic recommendation. Intrigued, I began listening to their track “ooweeooweeoo,” which exemplifies their genre-defying style and creative energy.

Hope you enjoy some of my favorite finds from the past month! Make sure to watch out every month for more.
