I Adore You, yebba’s Waterfall

One of my favorite pastimes is watching videos of people tap glitter-filled brushes from a few feet above the camera. The sparkles float down in slow motion, and it looks like you’re entering a portal to another universe. That’s what Yebba’s “Waterfall (I Adore You)” feels like to me.

Backed by light percussion, the song is a whisper in your ear with Yebba’s vocals serenading you. I’ve been a fan of Yebba for a couple years now, and one of my favorite things about her is that her songs are all her. There might be instrumentals in the background, but her voice is the showstopper.

The way that she ebbs and flows between delivering power and elegance with her voice is something to be studied. Her runs flutter like butterfly wings as they go up and down the scales. Her song “Distance” is a prime example of this. It was the first song I heard of hers, and it’s just incredible the amount of control she has over her instrument. This is no different in her new release.

“Waterfall (I Adore You)” is like stepping into an echo chamber of sound. With the reverberated tones in the background and the airy timbre to her voice, the result is mesmerizing. Yebba lets her instrumentals shine through a bit more in this silky smooth R&B track. I tend to get lost in an instrumental before the lyricism of a song, so the minute or so where it’s purely instrumental made me float.

Between the flute and the marimba in the background, there’s a reason this song is called “Waterfall.” It’s almost like floating down a lazy river. Sit back, relax, and let it all hit you.

Keep your eye on Yebba in the future, she never disappoints and give her new track a listen!
