There should be a genre of music dedicated to confident breakup songs. If there were, EMELINE would top the charts every time. The artist’s music has the power to transport you into a villainous origin story, while also boosting your confidence with its sharp lyrics and sound.

Originally from Paris, France, EMELINE has released anthems like cinderella’s dead, STRUT, feelings, and most recently Everything I’m Not.

Emeline has made it clear what her message is by listing everything she is not after leaving a relationship. While it is a short song, barely over two minutes, the verses peel back layers of a character that make you angrier and angrier as you learn more about the relationship from her point of view.

Although it seems like a very one-sided romantic relationship, the feeling of putting more effort in than the other person is universal. Seeing more messages in songs that highlight balance and equal effort is important to maintaining healthy boundaries as people. As she says, this person doesn’t listen to the fact that she likes lilies, not roses. This can seem like a small thing, but when built up it might just be the icing on the cake to top it all off and make someone break. The new release mixes smooth electronic synths and bass with acoustic guitar to create a song that is more reflective in nature.
