New Jersey native Jeremy Zucker does not hesitate to spill his guts as a music artist. The singer-songwriter and producer is the internet’s sad boy, with songs that gained popularity like “all the kids are depressed” and “comethru.” He began his career on SoundCloud, signed with Republic Records, and the rest is history.
But, let’s talk recent. Now 27, Zucker is honing into his craft of being, well, an all-rounder—creating his graphics, directing and editing his music videos, and having a trendy aesthetic on Instagram. He expands on his music, making each release a passion project beyond a guitar strum.
His latest project, “OK,” marks the start of something new for Zucker, an orb of mystery that will seemingly showcase personal growth and future endeavors.
“OK” is our first sneak peek of this new chapter, one that shows the evolution of Zucker not only as a musician but as an individual. This track exemplifies reassurance, as mental health is one of the themes found throughout his discography. With lyrics that hold significant weight, Zucker reminds listeners to prioritize themselves even in the whirlwind of a suffocating world. It’s a message that will resonate with your vulnerabilities while simultaneously pacifying your weathered soul.
“But I guess one day at a time one day at a time // You’re still on my mind, I swear you’ll be just fine”
Zucker’s blend of indie pop and electronic music embodies his signature raw vocals, synth, and rock-infused production, creating a song made for the speakers. Straying away from a minor-chord-heavy rhythm, it’s a track that makes you feel seen and hopefully happier after listening.
I had the pleasure of attending a show on his “More Noise” tour in 2021 and getting to express my appreciation for him face-to-face. He is such a warm light. Since high school to now, my last year of college, Zucker’s music has felt like a big, warm hug and a place I can go to seek comfort.
I am stoked to see what Zucker has in store this summer as he puts his whole heart and soul into his projects–and always delivers.
