EUNOIA – Billlie

At first, “EUNOIA” (yoo-no-ee-ah) looks like a made-up word. But, fun fact, it actually comes from the Greek word εὔνοια which means “well mind” or “beautiful thinking.”

If you’ve never heard the name Billlie, they are a 7-member girl group based in South Korea. Their name means, “we will express our b-side, the inner self that everyone has and can sympathize with, beautifully and proudly.”

Continuing their quest to fulfill this purpose with their 4th EP release, “the Billage of perception: chapter three,” the album has a dreamy and uplifting sound. Eunoia captures this essence “to a T” with its upbeat melodies and instrumentals. The smooth synths throughout the song are like entering a daydream. The chorus makes you want to dance, and the way the lyrics flow off the tongue is like entering an enchanted forest.

This release follows the previous “RING ma Bell (what a wonderful world),” a hard-hitting rock track. However, with every new leading song they have released, their sound has shifted to show the range of genre and feeling they are capable of.

Eunoia is an audio trip into a new world and lyrically mirrors this feeling. In the bridge, the English translation of the lyrics read:

In this harsh world / The only hand span of exit is who / The night of an exhausting day / At the end of it, you’ll feel relaxed / I reach out my hand to you always, ah, yeah

The lyrics paint a beautiful image of someone close to you reaching their hand out to help. It’s like you are being swallowed by the world’s darkness, and someone pulls you into something much brighter and mystical.

Eunoia is a message of comfort and understanding. Everyone can find themselves feeling like they’re drowning in darkness. The good news is, once you find the people who bring you into the enchanted forest, they can walk you through whatever you’re going through, and together you’ll become a eunoia.

Feel free to give vent to emotions like a firework / And then keep the sparkling moment / That will be gone in a flash / You and I ’til we die / To the rhythm clip and a clap / Diamonds in my eyes / Look at me strolling on the street with red lights / The scattered fragment of a sentimental memory is eunoia / Connect the dots

Billlie will promote this song in the next few weeks through stage performances, aesthetic choreography videos, and more. So if you listen to it and like it be sure to check out the videos that go with it!
