Quinnie, a New Jersey indie pop singer, takes songwriting to the next level. As a result of the success of her song, touch tank, Quinnie was able to release her debut album under Columbia Records. The Flounder album reflects Quinnie’s overall feelings through ten songs that are intimate and vulnerable. Aside from sweet vocals and excellent guitar riffs, her songs give a glimpse of her life up to this point. We were intrigued by Quinnie’s rise, so we asked our staff what they thought.

Quinnie’s sound is a daydream. Her debut album, flounder, is the arguments you made up in your head, the memories that are on repeat, and the dreams you can’t wait to happen. Her lyrics gives you a kiss before it gives you the final blow. Quinnie makes you look at all the little things in life and flip it so you can see its other side. It’s like her lyric “the simplest joys are the ones most profound”.
I honestly did not discover quinnie until “touch tank” (and, no not from Tik tok). She dances on the line of folk and indie rock, with subtle notes of modern bedroom pop. Quinnie is a singer-songwriter who writes from raw, personal experiences that reflect so poetically yet honestly in her lyricism. I don’t usually gravitate toward music like quinnie’s, but her production gives melancholy, nostalgia, and simple love in eleven tracks. For some reason, this might just be a safe space album for me.

“No amount of nail polish could paint you a good man.” Are you kidding me? quinnie came into my life with “touch tank” and has yet to disappoint. With the release of her debut album, flounder, quinnie has easily become one of my favorite artists and definitely one of my top artists of the year thus far. Her album exudes childlike wonder and oozes with nature imagery. There’s a lot of love, of heartbreak, and of nostalgia, and I’ll continue to eat this album up for months.
Quinnie’s captivating vocals and vulnerable songwriting immediately captured my attention when I first listened to touch tank. Naturally, I couldn’t put the song down and played it religiously. As soon as flounder, her debut album, was released, I was hesitant to listen because I was concerned about the possibility of not liking it. My expectations were met. I was delighted to discover that singles I had not enjoyed the first time became seamlessly integrated into an album that showcased quinnie’s outstanding songwriting. These songs will forever be in my heart.
