You must have heard of bedroom pop sensation beabadoobee. If you haven’t, you are totally missing out. As a Filipino-British singer-songwriter riding the alternative/indie wave, Bea truly puts her heart into her music. In her interview with i-D, we see she is just a girl living in this world like the rest of us — but that’s what makes her so lovable. There is a sense of normality in her experiences that definitely reflects in her songs, which is why she is relatable to so many teenagers and young adults alike.
Bea’s latest single, “Glue Song,” which released on Valentine’s Day is a sweet love song. Let’s just say, the song is major—it got over 5M streams just two days after dropping. Inspired by her own relationship (we know him as a boy called Jake), it is as much a love letter to her happiness as it is an expression of love. You’ll be dancing to light and airy strings, trumpet, and of course Bea’s soft vocals. What makes this especially endearing is that the music video was filmed in Bea’s birthplace Iloilo, Philippines.
The lyrics are simple and effective, “no lyrics with double meanings or some weird sad undertone” but rather “just a plain and simple, in your face, love song” as Bea described in a press release. It comes from a place of genuine positivity and lovestruck energy.
“Never thought I’d find you
But you’re here
And so I love you”
Beabadoobee is continuing to grow, hitting the road with Taylor Swift for select dates of The Eras Tour, and gearing up for her acoustic headline tour in the fall.
